Hello fellow bloggers, this and i will admit now is not one of my better attempts of photography. It was taken while driving around a roundabout (not something our friends stateside see many of) and trying to take photos out of the window.
This is a local sculpture within Merthyr Tydfil town center has stood for decades, built by sculptor Charles Sansbury sometime in the 1970's.

I tried butting a bit of an arty twist on the first image, and my trusty mono conversion on the second. I hope its not to detracting to the already half decent work i have done previously

yikes! i've been guilty of some similar shots while driving on raised overpasses in Downtown Dallas. not good practice! :)
ReplyDeleteYou right there, but the more i view them now (especially the mono) they are staring to grow on me.. it might just be my crazy mind
DeleteI can't imagine shooting a pic while going through a roundabout!
ReplyDeleteOn sports mode on continuous shooting mode, its relatively easy. Not that the photos show that very well
DeleteI can hardly drive a roundabout without a camera:) I love the second photo!
ReplyDeletenow that has make me chuckle, Its a skill that you pick up along the way....Just hope my Gem doesn't see this ;)
DeleteYes I have and Ill have words with you driving and taking pics at the same time, our car isn't exactly unnoticeable now is it XXX
DeleteWindshield photography...fun stuff to do. Try it driving a small house down the road and with a cat in your lap. Wheee.....!
ReplyDeletewindshield photography? this was full on hanging out of the window. Now adding a cat into that equation would just be plain dangerous....
DeleteThanks for the comment John
I love both of these.
ReplyDeleteThank you michelle
DeleteWell, now I don't feel so guilty. I recall the day my p&s arrived. Bought it to have something light to carry around. I took pictures of people on the street during the ride home and that was through some rough sections of town. So glad I didn't get harrassed (or shot at)! But that was nothing compared to these shots! If you ever need a job, you might try working as a movie stuntman!
ReplyDeleteHi Helene, thanks for the job offer but i think ill stick to photography!!! We have areas in our town like you have mentioned, but its knife crime over here not so much guns.
DeleteCool shots, Shaun! We have two roundabouts where I live. Once people figure out how to use them properly, they're much faster than stop signs.
ReplyDeleteThey are a great invention, just dont photograph around them while driving.
DeleteI always stop when I take my photos -- I have poor eyesight as it is and this would just be me asking for trouble. Love the effects, Shaun. Very cool. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, i did think about going around there again a second time. But realised that it may not be such a good idea.
DeleteSnapping and driving should be an offence! Interesting shots which have an 'avant garde' (can't think of another term) about them! Can't say I remember that sculpture. Where is it?
ReplyDeleteDo should druving and juggling but that still happens :)
DeleteThis used to be outside the collage judlst before you go over the bridge (over the Taff). They have now moved it onto the roubdabout by the fountain shop at the bottom of town.
...dangerous photographic mission there Shaun! Looking like the cover of a science-fiction book. Well done!
