As i have previously explained in various blogs about my love of photography, how i have grown into it and where the inspiration had come from all those years ago as i stood in the dark room with my grandfather as he develop his photos.
Well now is your chance to meet him, This is my Grandfather. After serving in the RAF during WW2 he returned home to become master projectionist in the local cinema house.
This was taken when he was about 30 years old in his projection room.
The original untouched image
And after some fine re-touching i have managed to rescue the photo to this.
I hope you like.

that is really great. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is an impressive make-over of the original. Well done. I am always in admiration as to how people dressed back in the 40's and 50's. A shame it did not last to this day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see Shaun and I can see the resemblance..
ReplyDeleteOh dear my friend you have just given me an idea... I was born in South Africa in 1956.
My parents are from Glasgow and went there to work in 1953. They were fairly well off so I have hundreds of old images to scamn and share... watch this space (and you started it)
I hope you have a great weekend.
Great job with the touch ups! Thanks for sharing your grandfather's story with us :o)
ReplyDeleteYou did an excellent job - I am sure he would be proud. They certainly did dress well in those days.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the photo makeover!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo to begin with and your restoration is very nice!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet your grandfather and great job you've done to this photo. The beautiful Cinema Paradiso, the movie, has crossed my mind now. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I have plans to go through some old old photos...now I'm inspired! Thanks!
